Essential — Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 1, 2026
Last updated: September 1, 2026
Essential ("the App") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the App handles and how.
Summary
The App does not operate a server. Your schedules, tasks, contacts and locations are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to us.
The App sends only two kinds of data outside your device:
- Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports used to improve the App (Firebase)
- Requests needed to display weather and market information (Apple WeatherKit and similar)
1. Information we do not collect
The following stays on your device and is never transmitted to us:
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Events and tasks | Titles, notes, dates, times, repeat rules |
| Contacts | Names and phone numbers attached to an event |
| Locations | Place names and coordinates saved to an event |
| Device calendar | Events read from your device calendar, if you allow it |
| App settings | Theme and display preferences |
We cannot access this data. Deleting the App permanently deletes it.
2. Information collected automatically
The App uses Firebase, provided by Google LLC, to diagnose errors and improve quality. The following is collected automatically:
| Data | Tool | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| App instance ID (randomly generated) | Firebase Analytics | Deduplicating sessions |
| Device model, OS version, screen details | Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics | Compatibility |
| App version, language, country setting | Firebase Analytics | Usage analysis |
| App launches and screen views | Firebase Analytics | Feature improvement |
| Coarse location derived from IP (country/region level) | Firebase Analytics | Regional usage analysis |
| Stack traces and device state on crash | Firebase Crashlytics | Diagnosing and fixing errors |
- This data does not include your name, email address or phone number.
- The App shows no advertising and does not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA/AAID) or track you across other apps and websites.
3. Device permissions
| Permission | Why it is used | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Weather for your current location; place search | Optional |
| Contacts | Attaching a contact to an event | Optional |
| Calendar | Reading existing events from your device calendar | Optional |
| Notifications | Local event reminders (handled on device) | Optional |
All permissions are optional. Declining one disables only that feature. You may revoke any permission at any time in your device settings.
4. Third-party services
| Service | Provider | Data sent | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics | Google LLC (USA) | Data listed in Section 2 | Analytics and crash diagnosis |
| WeatherKit | Apple Inc. (USA) | Approximate coordinates | Weather information |
| Place search | Map service provider | Your search query | Finding event locations |
| Market data API | Respective provider | Request IP address | Exchange rate and index display |
Location data used for weather or place search is not stored by the App and is handled under each provider's own privacy policy.
5. International transfers
The services in Section 4 operate on servers located in the United States and other countries.
- Data transferred: the automatically collected data in Section 2
- Recipients: Google LLC, Apple Inc. (United States)
- Purpose: quality improvement, crash diagnosis, weather delivery
- Retention: per each provider's policy; Firebase Analytics data is deleted automatically after a maximum of 14 months.
For users in the EEA and the UK, these transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses entered into by the respective providers.
6. Retention
| Data | Retention period |
|---|---|
| On-device data | Deleted immediately when the App is removed |
| Firebase Analytics data | Up to 14 months from collection |
| Firebase Crashlytics logs | Up to 90 days from collection |
7. Your choices
- On-device data: view, edit and delete it directly in the App; removing the App deletes all of it.
- Automatically collected data: you can opt out by
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements
- Android: restricting usage access for the App in device settings
- withdrawing analytics consent in the App's settings menu, where offered
- Requests: contact us using Section 10 to exercise any right below.
